- TITLE OF COURSE: PE1501 - Fly Fishing
- COURSE DESCRIPTION: This one credit hour course, with two contact hours per week, introduces students to actual fishing experiences. It provides both a challenge and opportunity for the student to experience the recreational sport of fly fishing. Instruction is provided in gear selection, casting, fly selection, etc. The fisherman is challenged to develop a plan to catch fish in an effective manner. For each unit of credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected.
- PROGRAM AND DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT: The SCCC/ATS physical education program will broaden the understanding of fitness for life by providing general education, appropriate technology, and professional development opportunities that promote a healthy lifestyle.

- METHODS OF ASSESSMENT:
- SCCC/ATS Outcome #5 will be assessed and measured by analysis of a stream and insect life and the actions following analysis.
- SCCC/ATS Outcome #7 will be assessed and measured by participation in travel through areas with other cultural influences and meeting with other fishermen.
- SCCC/ATS Outcome #8 will be assessed and measured by learning fishing rules and explaining verbally why these rules are important.
